About the Authors
Darl Kuhn is currently a DBA with Sun Microsystems. He has coauthored three
books: Linux Recipes for Oracle DBAs, RMAN Recipes for Oracle Database 11g:
A Problem-Solution Approach and Oracle RMAN Pocket Reference. He also teaches
advanced database courses at Regis University. Darl performs volunteer database
administration work for the Rocky Mountain Oracle Users Group. He has a graduate
degree from Colorado State University and currently lives near Spanish Peaks,
Colorado with his wife Heidi and daughters Lisa and Brandi.
Director of Database Technologies at Novara Solutions, Inc. Charles is the
author of the 107+ page Maximum Availability Architecure case study at Oracle's
Website (http://www.oracle.com/technology/deploy/availability/htdocs/FNF_CaseStudy.html),
and is an Oracle Certified DBA, Redhat Certified Technician, and Microsoft Certified
Professional. He has over 16 years of IT experience and has worked with Oracle
since 1991. Charles is also a technical editor for Oracle Press. Charles has
presented advanced topics for IOUG and Oracle OpenWorld on such topics as RAC/ASM
and 7x24 High Availability Considerations using Oracle Advanced Replication,
Hot Standby and Quest Shareplex. Charles also runs the dbaexpert.com website
(http://www.dbaexpert.com) and provides technical solutions to Oracle DBAs and
developers.
Bernard Lopuz is currently a senior technical support analyst at Oracle Corporation.
In the early years of his IT career before he became an Oracle database administrator,
he was a programmer developing Unisys Linc and Oracle applications, as well
as IVR (interactive voice response) applications, such as telephone banking
voice processing applications. He has wide experience using RedHat AS and Oracle
Enterprise Linux (OEL). Bernard is the technical reviewer of RMAN Recipes for
Oracle Database 11g: A ProblemSolution Approach (Apress, 2007), and a
certified Oracle professional (OCP). He is pursuing a masters degree in
computer information technology at Regis University in Denver, Colorado, and
completed a bachelors degree in computer engineering at the Mapua Institute
of Technology in Manila, Philippines. Bernard lives in Toronto, Canada, together
with his wife, Leizle, and daughters, Juliet and Carol.
