These practical rules, and many others, are explained in this classic book-
now back in print. The original edition of this book preceded "agile"
software development and came before "Scrum." In many ways, it was
one of the first truly practical, hands-on books about working with and managing
a software development team. In 1996, this was largely uncharted territory:
most teams, even at large and mature corporations, were run by seat-of-the-pants
methods. Academic resources about development processes were available, but
understanding them was hard and applying them in the real world was harder.
DYNAMICS OF SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT changed the game-and its insights are still
relevant in the twenty-first-century world of Web services. Software developers
learn the basic dynamics of the development process and the practical rules
and best practices for enhancing team efficiency and effectiveness. This new
edition includes a CD of the author's famous "21 Rules" presentation.
