It is not better than Programming Asp.net
This books is named correctly but the contents are not comprehensive as compared to O'Reilly's Edition. Oreilly has many more examples using new controls.

Ideal book for asp.net 2.0 fundamentals.
This book is basically for fundamental topics. it covers only the fundamental of ASP.NET 2.0 and it's only of around 800 pages.it contains controls, security, data binding, data source controls, caching, state management, intrinsics, a bit of internals, themes, profile, VS, ADO.NET. but some advanced topics like web parts are missing. This is the ideal book for knowing asp.net 2.0 fundamentals.
