About the Technology:
Windows 2000 focuses on several key areas: distributed services, reducing the total cost of owning and operating a network of PCs, performance and scalability, and support for hardware advances. Through features such as the Active Directory, Distributed Security, clustering, and integrated networking services, Windows 2000 becomes a platform for distributed computing that scales from local area networks to the Internet. The Zero Administration Initiative for Windows, in conjunction with the Management Console and Systems Management Server, will make large-scale networks easier and less costly to deploy and maintain. 64-bit technology, advances in storage and I/O, improved network Quality of Service, plus support for the latest hardware buses, processors, and plug-and-play devices, will ensure that systems based on Windows 2000 will have the power and reliability to run the most mission-critical solutions.

Customer Reviews
Customer Reviews: 1 Average Customer Rating: May 18, 2006 Guadalupe O Lujan from El Paso, TX USA excellent reference This book is an excellent reference for users taking the 70-210 exam. As usual with other books, some of the material is not well explained, but the exercises at the end of the lessons makes up for this deficiency. Part 2 of the book which covers an intro to the 70-210 exam is also a helpful reference. Microsoft should try to stay inbounds for the particular exam being reviewed. Windows 2000 server product explanations are excessive which leads the user to wonder if questions from windows 2000 server will be included in the 70-210 exam. Third party software references should be given where appropriate. A PC setup section is badly needed, especially where a windows 2000 server is needed for a particular exercise. A workgroup setup or equivalent should be included so that the user can be ready to do the exercises prior to reading the book that concerns only windows 2000 professional.
