Excellent book for VB developers
I have read a bunch of VB books, but I only feel this book is really worth for me to keep it. I got a lot information from the book.

both readable and thorough
Whether you are a VB beginner or a VB pro looking for a good reference, this is a great book to have. Very readable and lots of great examples. Also, very comprehensive.

A good book for developers with a poor binding!
I agree with most of the reviews. It is a very good book for VB developers. Don't try to learn VB from this book. But it has a very poor binding. Someone has made the same comment at Amazon too! The binding has come out and now I have bunch of papers kept together with Scotch tape!!

The finest programming book I've ever used
I can't speak highly enough about this book. While it's not for someone who has never used VB before, if you have some basic knowledge, and you *really* want to learn how to create world-class programs, this is the book. I found myself using some of his examples, within the first week of using the book, in my own programming. He goes over aspects of clean code, performance, theory, practice, and he's actually written samples for everything he talks about, which means that he actually went into VB and tried *everything* it has. He brings all of that information back to the reader, down to peculiar behaviors and workarounds to undocumented errors. I wish every author went to the trouble that Mr. Balena has both in learning about the software, and presenting all of his findings. Just buy this book.

Difficult in presentation, but lots of tips and info.
Presented in a difficult-to-read way. Not recommended for self-study. But if you have some VB knowledge, or learn quickly, this book has a lot of good tips and details that are useful well beyond beginner level.

VB from a developer's point of view
I found this book to be very helpful. Francesco approaches his topics as a developer and the book is organized that way. Where there are pitfalls, he notes them. If there are weaknesses, he points them out. He also includes many tips and techniques that come from his experience. A very readable and usable book.
