Customer Reviews: 2 Average Customer Rating: Nov 4, 2006 Jonathan Turner from Seattle, WA Best of the bunch for learning Flash design I looked through many of the new Flash 8 books and this was the best one I found from a DESIGN standpoint. I teach this subject and have used flash since version 4. The screenshots are very useful and the lab examples are very useful and practical. If you are a DEVELOPER (coder) then you should buy a book on ActionScript 2.0 or a book designed for Developers. This book is for Designers as anyone with experince with Flash and the industry should know. If you want a more advanced book then there is one in this same series for that purpose. This book also does a great job of describing and using the new features available in Flash 8 which other books seem to ignore. The animation shadowing exercise is very good.
Mar 3, 2006 CK from Los Angeles, CA THIS IS NOT THE TEXT FOR AN EXPERIENCED CODER This book is for those with a great deal of time and very little real-world IT experience. Basically, this is a "monkey-see-monkey" do type of book. The author leads you through a series of steps without fully explaining the 'why'. If you need to get up to speed with Flash 8 quickly, this certainly isn't the text for you! On the other hand, if you're a novice and require a great deal of hand holding, then you'll love this book. I'm a professional developer who feels he wasted a good deal of valuable time going through this book. Be certain I will buy other texts but I can't honestly recommend this one to other developers.
