Customer Reviews
Customer Reviews: 3 Average Customer Rating: Feb 1, 2004 Srinivas Kura from New Jersey USA Excellent Book in depth of details You can learn from basics to advance level of backups using RMAN tool. Each and every topic has very detailed information.
Aug 8, 2003 Prem Khanna J from Chennai , India Worth the price Good book that every Oracle DBA must own.Made my life with RMAN pretty simple.
Jan 17, 2003 Kevin Haas from Charlotte, NC Best book on RMAN so far! Finally a book that covers RMAN. I think Oracle did not release a book exclusivly about RMAN because it was too difficul before 9i.
Athough I already understood RMAN I could never bring it all together into a cohesive strategy. Most books just explain how each command works. This book goes a step farther.
Minuses: 1. Not the best if you are implementing RMAN on 8i because there are many improved features in 9i RMAN and the book does not make a distinction (very often.) 2. Although the book does include case studies it could still use more on strategy (what backups to run when, good retension policies, etc. 3. Needs more on total database loss, i.e disaster recovery.
