Like a pure theoretical textbook
I bought the book by reading the reviews on Bookpool.com and Amazon.com. I finished 2/3rd of the book but did not find a direct real life practical approach to optimize the network speed or how to find the common source of errors. The examples given are from ideal situation where everything is working smoothly. There are no actual real world problems and experiences given. Its more like a text book.

This book is cool, awesome, and great!!!!!
If you have ever stayed up all night trying to figure out why someone can't get a dhcp address, or why you can not logon to the network, or browse the network, or any of a hundred other stupid problems on Windows networks, then this book is for you. I have read the book twice, and each time I get new information out of it. I am not yet a Netmon guru, but I can already solve problems using this tool ... before I had to guess.

Excellent For All Network Professionals
Very clean and straight forward, provides a very indepth description of TCP/IP, IPX/SPX protocol's, ant the best decription of the OSI Model I have every seen! I have learned more about network traffic in this book then I even knew existed. I am very excited about using network monitor to trouble shoot real world problems, I Highly recommend this to any and all system admins, and consultants, and anyone else that is interested in the Cool util!!!
